The proposed bill allows community volunteers to help students enhance their reading skills in public schools in Minnesota. Schools are encouraged to provide space and time either before or after school for these volunteers to work with students. Activities may include reading books to students, listening to students read aloud, or assisting students in selecting books from the library. All volunteers must pass a background check and remain under the supervision of the school principal or a designated staff member while on school property.
